Jeffrey Bruno, Ph.D., Clinical Director of the Peninsula Child & Youth Assessment Clinics, has a master’s degree in experimental psychology and a doctorate in clinical psychology.
A licensed psychologist with wide-ranging experience in child and adolescent assessment, Dr. Bruno is the former program manager of the Family and Community Services, non-profit, Child & Youth Evaluation/Diagnostic Clinic in San Carlos, California.
He is also a published author and lectures nationwide on child brain development and diet-behavior relationships.

Laura Thompson, Ph.D., is director and founder of the Southern California Institute of Clinical Nutrition in Carlsbad, California. Dr. Thompson received a Ph.D. in Nutrition and Human Behavior from Ryokan College in Los Angeles, studied naturopathy with Dr. Bernard Jensen, and culinary arts at the Paris American Academy in Paris, France.
Author of “Smart Food, Smart Families” and “Our Children Are ...What Our Children Eat,” Dr. Thompson has developed a unique system of nutritional counseling, with an emphasis on natural, whole foods and easy-to follow techniques that have guided thousands of children and adults to vibrant health.

Amy Owens,MFT, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, has worked with a wide range of people including mothers and infants, children and adolescents, couples and families, and elders. She helps clients address a variety of concerns such as addiction and codependency, anxiety, depression, anger management, mood and focus problems, relationship issues, family difficulties, trauma and grief work. She also facilitates therapy groups and workshops as a safe place where clients can use the group setting to explore new modes of self-expression, and learn to create optimal mental, physical, emotional and spiritual health.
She has a graduate certificate in Art Therapy Psychology from Notre Dame de Namur University. Art therapy offers an opportunity to explore personal problems and potentials, and family and relationship dynamics through verbal and non-verbal expression. No art experience is needed. It is an effective means of reconciling emotional conflicts, fostering self awareness, developing social skills, enhancing cognitive function, managing behavior, solving problems, reducing anxiety, aiding reality orientation, and increasing self-esteem. Art therapy is also effective with trauma recovery work, pain management and relief of somatic complaints.
Ms. Owens lectures and facilitates groups and workshops for teens, couples and adults. She is affiliated with The Institute of Health and Healing at Mills-Peninsula Health Services in San Mateo. She is an associate with Peninsula Child and Youth Assessment Clinic where she has her office in Pacifica, CA. She writes a column for the Pacifica Tribune entitled “Living in the Moment,” in which she answers questions concerning interpersonal relationships and mental and emotional health.
